Petite women come in all different shapes and sizes – every body is different, regardless of height.
In general however, our bodies do share some common features. You might not have paid much attention to your particular body shape in the past, but if you know the basics of your silhouette, you can better understand how to accentuate your assets and flatter your shape. It will be a godsend in helping you choose the right types of clothes for you, and once you get it right – you’re set.
You will have heard the word shape used to describe the overall silhouette of your body – but what does that mean, we hear you ask? We are generally looking at your shoulder width in relevance to your hip width. The individual way your upper, mid and lower half are proportioned to each other is key here.
Whilst your size may change during your lifetime, your frame is consistent.
Allow us to help you determine your body shape, as it’s the foundation to creating a stylish wardrobe that makes you look and feel great. Grab a tape measure, follow the instructions below, noting down your measurements
How to take measurements
BUST
Measure at the fullest point of your bust with a soft measuring tape. Make sure that the tape is not too tight by breathing in and out.
WAIST
Your waist is the narrowest part of your torso. The measuring tape you bring around your waist should sit tightly, but it shouldn’t “dig” into your skin. Don’t pull your stomach in, either.
HIPS
You measure your hips at the widest point below your waist. Remember to remove your clothing and to keep your feet together so that the measurement is as accurate as possible.
HIGH HIP
This is also a hip measurement, but taken in a different place than the previous one. It is taken at the top of the hip curve – not at its widest point! You need to localize the upper swell of the hip over your pelvic bone.
Enter your measurements in the body shape calculator in either inches or cm
